Significant Research Contributions

   He is engaged in hydrology, water resources and water environment teaching and research work, and his main research direction is the harmonious relationship between man and water, and water resources integrated management.

   In the study of human and water relations harmonious theory, he put forward the original theory system of harmonious theory, and his research results has important theoretical innovation significance and great practical application value.

   In the quantitative simulation of human - water system and analysis of human - water relation mechanism under changing environment, he first proposed an embedded system dynamics simulation method, which is a new idea of simulating and understanding complex human - water relations; he also proposed a harmonious identification method for quantitative identification of the main factors and indicators, which has important theoretical significance and application value.

  In the study of water resources regulation, he put forward the theoretical framework and application guidelines of water resources adaptability, and a water resources optimal allocation model, which successfully applied to the Tarim River Basin, the Yellow River Basin, the Huaihe River Basin, Zhongyuan Economic Zone, Henan Province, based on human - water harmony theory. The method has important application value.

Career Overview

Dr. Qiting Zuo born in 1967, is a leading and senior professor for School of Water Conservancy and Environment and the director of Center for Water Science Research at Zhengzhou University.Professor Zuo holds the the secretary-general of Water Resources Commission, China Society of Natural Resources (CSNR) and Committee member of Water Resources Commission, Chinese Hydraulic Engineering Society (CHES). Dr. Zuo was awarded the “Baogang Excellent Teacher”, Specialist of science and technology of Henan Province, excellent young and middle-aged key teacher of Henan Province for his outstanding teaching and research contributions. Professor Zuo has led and chaired 42 projects supported by the National Natural Science Fund of China, National Social Science Fund, National Science and Technology Support Program Topic, and Henan Provincial Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and other national or provincial scientific programs. Dr. Zuo has published 12 monographs and 336 papers. His main research interests are human-water relationship and harmony theory, water environment and water resources protection, integrated water resources management, sustainable planning and management of water resources systems.
